President Trump Called Joe Scarborough ‘Morning Psycho’ During An Hours-Long Twitter Rant

Although President Donald Trump just days ago declared “GAME OVER” with an ill-advised Game of Thrones meme to declare his “complete and total exoneration” with the Mueller report — the public release of the (even then, heavily-redacted) report told a different story. Now, congressional Democrats are weighing their options on getting impeachment proceedings against the president into motion.

This all must be weighing pretty heavily on ol’ Trump, who on Tuesday morning went off on an especially ranty Twitter rant, lobbing insults and name calling left and right. It all began just before 5:00 a.m. when the president went after New York Times columnist Paul Krugman.

“Paul Krugman, of the Fake News New York Times, has lost all credibility, as has the Times itself, with his false and highly inaccurate writings on me,” Trump seethed. “He is obsessed with hatred, just as others are obsessed with how stupid he is. He said Market would crash, Only Record Highs!”

From there, he went on to once again falsely claim that the Times apologized to him after the 2016 election [Ron Howard narrator voice: it didn’t] and that the publication would owe him a “far bigger and better apology” over the coverage of the Mueller report.

I wonder if the New York Times will apologize to me a second time, as they did after the 2016 Election. But this one will have to be a far bigger & better apology. On this one they will have to get down on their knees & beg for forgiveness-they are truly the Enemy of the People!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 23, 2019

Oh, but Trump was just getting started, as you can see from his ensuing tweets:

I will be going to Green Bay, Wisconsin, for a really big Rally on Saturday Evening. Big crowd expected, much to talk about. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 23, 2019

The Radical Left Democrats, together with their leaders in the Fake News Media, have gone totally insane! I guess that means that the Republican agenda is working. Stay tuned for more!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 23, 2019

In the “old days” if you were President and you had a good economy, you were basically immune from criticism. Remember, “It’s the economy stupid.” Today I have, as President, perhaps the greatest economy in history…and to the Mainstream Media, it means NOTHING. But it will!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 23, 2019

It’s worth noting that the economy was booming the last time the United States attempted to impeach a president, but that’s neither here nor there. At that point Trump pivoted to praise Fox News for doing the lord’s work and lash out at Joe Scarborough, who he cleverly referred to as “Morning Psycho” as a play off of Morning Joe.

Sorry to say but @foxandfriends is by far the best of the morning political shows on television. It rightfully has BY FAR the highest ratings, not even close. Morning Psycho (Joe), who helped get me elected in 2016 by having me on (free) all the time, has nosedived, too Angry…

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 23, 2019

….Dumb and Sick. A really bad show with low ratings – and will only get worse. CNN has been a proven and long term ratings and beyond disaster. In fact, it rewarded Chris Cuomo with a now unsuccessful prime time slot, despite his massive failure in the morning. Only on CNN!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 23, 2019

And then he got distracted by something he saw on TV and started ranting about Harley Davidson.

“Harley Davidson has struggled with Tariffs with the EU, currently paying 31%. They’ve had to move production overseas to try and offset some of that Tariff that they’ve been hit with which will rise to 66% in June of 2021.” @MariaBartiromo So unfair to U.S. We will Reciprocate!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 23, 2019

“The best thing ever to happen to Twitter is Donald Trump.” @MariaBartiromo So true, but they don’t treat me well as a Republican. Very discriminatory, hard for people to sign on. Constantly taking people off list. Big complaints from many people. Different names-over 100 M…..

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 23, 2019

…..But should be much higher than that if Twitter wasn’t playing their political games. No wonder Congress wants to get involved – and they should. Must be more, and fairer, companies to get out the WORD!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 23, 2019

The Wall is being rapidly built! The Economy is GREAT! Our Country is Respected again!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 23, 2019

And finally, nearly two hours after he started, Trump ended the whole thing with a resounding “KEEP AMERICA GREAT!”

KEEP AMERICA GREAT!

Not surprisingly, the tweet most people zeroed in on was the one attacking Scarborough, as the hashtag #MorningPsycho began trending on Twitter:

Aaand #MorningPsycho is tending on Twitter

— Kasie Hunt (@kasie) April 23, 2019

DEFENDING @JoeNBC SCARBOROUGH.

I've been a firm critic of the narratives pushed on #MorningJoe. But for the sitting president to personally target a media figure is outrageous. His continued attacks on the First Amendment are dangerous.#MorningPsycho #ImpeachTrump

— Peter Daou (@peterdaou) April 23, 2019

#MorningPsycho
He got owned too 🤣🤣🤣 pic.twitter.com/CddAFYrDwH

— I dig deep, lightly (@TrueSatire) April 23, 2019

The president spent this morning complaining he is unfairly treated by “Psycho” Joe Scarborough, CNN, the New York Times, its “stupid” columnist Paul Krugman, Twitter, Democrats, the media & more. He called for the “enemy of the people” NYT to get on knees and apologize to him.

— Josh Dawsey (@jdawsey1) April 23, 2019

I’d watch a morning show called “Morning Psycho,” fwiw

— Scott Bixby (@scottbix) April 23, 2019

Given the timing of his tweets, others pointed out who the real “morning psycho” was:

A morning psycho is the one who rage tweets before 7am. https://t.co/M4HlCmGWv6

— Mohanad Elshieky (@MohanadElshieky) April 23, 2019

These were before 7am Eastern. We all know who the "Morning Psycho" is, @realDonaldTrump, and it ain't @JoeNBC. pic.twitter.com/G8eAUV7jvx

— Max Kennerly (@MaxKennerly) April 23, 2019

Good Morning America. This is your President on @Twitter before 7AMEST attacking network tv hosts, calling names, raging and lying. How long America? How long will we abide this mean, petulant, angry baby in the White House. #MorningPsycho #MorningJoe pic.twitter.com/gUNS7VfqZn

— Sophia A. Nelson (@IAmSophiaNelson) April 23, 2019

The only #MorningPsycho is the guy still rage tweeting after trying to sell us on the fact that he's winning, innocent, happy, and content @realDonaldTrump pic.twitter.com/za8k1tbOLZ

— Scarface (@vbknight1) April 23, 2019

Scarborough responded to Trump’s tweets on-air as the drama unfolded. “Why thank you,” he quipped. “I remember you telling Jeff Zucker that you didn’t need CNN, the entire network of CNN, to get elected, but you are saying our show is so powerful that we got you elected. Wow, that’s great!”

“I feel like flexing my muscles right now!” @JoeNBC says, asking producers to change the chyron to respond to Trumphttps://t.co/vJyowXzciT pic.twitter.com/YIYvzQpsuC

— Charlie Spiering (@charliespiering) April 23, 2019

The chyron person at #MorningPsycho deserves a raise immediately. 🤣🤣 pic.twitter.com/XtvDKOOWlP

— Jeff Barrett (@BarrettAll) April 23, 2019

“He just can’t quit us,” Scarborough later joked.
